Connect Your Bank to DynaTax AI

Link a business bank account once and your transactions flow in automatically, ready for AI categorization. Here's how the connection works, what syncs, and what to do right after you connect.

How Bank Connections Work

DynaTax AI connects to your bank through Stripe Financial Connections. When you start a connection, you authenticate directly with your bank inside Stripe's secure flow — DynaTax AI never sees or stores your online banking credentials.

The connection is read-only: it is permissioned only for account balances and transaction history. Nothing about it can move money or make changes in your bank account.

Connecting an Account

1

Open Banking and start the connection

In your dashboard, go to Banking and click Connect bank account (some screens label it Connect bank).

2

Sign in with your bank

Stripe's window opens. Search for your bank, sign in with your online banking credentials, and choose which accounts to share.

3

Let transactions import

Once linked, your balance and transaction history import automatically. Transactions may take a moment to appear after the first connection.

What Syncs Automatically

  • Account balances for each connected account.
  • Transaction history, refreshed by a daily automatic sync — no manual importing.

Imported transactions appear under Banking → Transactions, where AI categorizes each one and shows a confidence score, so you can see at a glance which categorizations to trust and which to review.

After You Connect

Three habits keep your books clean from day one:

  • Review categorization. Skim Banking → Transactions and correct any low-confidence categories — the AI learns from your corrections.
  • Confirm the recurring ones first. Categorize a merchant that recurs every month and DynaTax AI remembers it under Banking → Learned merchants, so future transactions categorize consistently.
  • Upload receipts. Add receipts under Banking → Receipt Matchingand they're matched to the bank transactions they belong to.

No Connection? Import Files

If you prefer not to link an account — or your bank isn't available — you can import transactions from CSV, Excel, or QBO files under Banking → Import Data. Imported transactions go through the same AI categorization as synced ones.

Troubleshooting

I connected but don't see transactions yet

The first import can take a little while after connecting. Check Banking → Transactions again shortly; new activity also arrives with the daily sync.

My connection stopped updating

Bank sessions can expire — some banks require re-authentication periodically. Reconnect the account from Banking using the same connect flow, and syncing resumes.

What happens to my data if a connection is removed?

Transactions already imported stay in your books — removing a connection only stops future syncing. Contact support if you need help removing a connected account.
