Invoicing & Payment Fees, Explained

Send invoices with an online payment link, get paid by card, and know exactly what the processing costs — DynaTax AI adds no markup on top of the payment processor's fee.

Sending Invoices

Create customer invoices under Sales → Invoices. When you send an invoice, it goes out with an online payment link — your customer opens the link and pays without needing an account. Today, invoice payment links accept online card payments.

You can also record a payment received outside the platform — cash, check, or an external transfer — against any invoice to mark it paid.

Payment Processing Fees

Processing fees are charged by Stripe, the payment processor — DynaTax AI adds no markup(the platform fee is zero). What you pay is Stripe's standard rate for how your customer pays:

Payment methodStripe feeNotes
Online card2.9% + $0.30What invoice payment links accept today (card-not-present)
In-person card2.7% + $0.05Stripe's rate for card-present payments
ACH bank debit0.8%, capped at $5Stripe's rate for bank-debit payments
These are Stripe's standard US rates — check Stripe's published pricing for current rates. In-person card and ACH rates are shown as Stripe's schedule for those payment types; invoice payment links currently accept online card payments.

How Payouts Work

When a customer pays, the processing fee is deducted automatically before the money reaches your connected bank account — there's no separate fee invoice to reconcile. For a $100 invoice paid by online card, you receive $96.80 ($100 − 2.9% − $0.30).

Track your balance and payout history under Sales → Payouts.

Payments Received Outside the Platform

Recording a payment you received outside the platform — cash, a paper check, or an external bank transfer — has no processing fee. You're just marking the invoice paid; no money moves through the payment processor.

Refunds and Fees

Per the refund policy, payment processing fees charged by Stripe are not refundable. If you refund a customer's payment, the original processing fee is not returned.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does DynaTax AI take a cut of my invoice payments?

No. The platform fee on customer invoices is zero — the only cost is Stripe's processing fee, passed through with no markup.

Who pays the processing fee — me or my customer?

The fee is deducted from the payment before it reaches your bank account, so it comes out of the amount you receive.

Can my customers pay by bank transfer instead of card?

Invoice payment links currently accept online card payments. You can always record a payment received outside the platform — like a direct bank transfer or check — with no processing fee.

Where does the money land after a customer pays?

In your connected bank account, after the processing fee is deducted. See your balance and payout schedule under Sales → Payouts.
